Explanation

Due to so many famous theaters and movie houses in the area, Nampo-dong Theater Street is always crowded with young people who crave the latest cinema offering. If you take a leisure walk around the street even without any previous information about newly released films, you will find yourself buying an admission ticket at the end of your walk. Such is the atmosphere and fame of this street.

Busan Theater, CineCity, Daeyeong Cinema, and CGV Nampo are all famous theaters located along the curb of the street leading from Nampo-dong to the overpass in Chungmu-dong. Each theater shows films 4 to 5 times a day. At the time of the liberation in 1945, there were only a few theaters here. But by the 1960's about 20 theaters and movie houses opened in this area. Ever since, the Nampo-dong Street came to be known as the ���Theater Street���.

Film festivals gave birth to the famed "Stars Street" and "Film Festival Street". In order to consolidate the image of Busan as a cultural metropolis, a series of renovation projects were put into effect. As a result, Busan plays host to the Busan International Film Festival every year. The Busan citizens have thus designated the whole area of Nampo-dong as "Stars Street" and "Film Festival Street."
