Gimhae International Airport in Busan is the 19th largest airport in Asia and in the Pacific. The airport began in August 1958 as the Busan Suyeong Airport. It was renamed the Busan international Airport in September 1963.
Since it moved to its current location (Daejeo 2-dong, Gangseo-gu) in August 1976,
it has been called Gimhae international Airport. The government operated the airport until May 1983, afterward Korea Airports Corporation took over its operation to effectively cope with the international competition.
