Lane of Books in Bosu-dong
There is a narrow lane in Bosu-dong known exclusively for bookstores. This lane leads from the entrance of the International Market toward Bosu-dong. This street was originally formed when an old residential area (the current International Market) was evacuated immediately after the liberation in 1945. It remained for some time as an open space, with a mountain of old books left behind by the Japanese available for sale. And then during the Korean War, while Busan acted as provisional capital, many refugee scholars and students converged here to buy and sell books not only for intellectual purposes, but also for earning a living.
