A black bridge was the bridge linking Junggu with Seogu in Bosuchun, Its name was derived from having been burnt the surface of log bridge to prevent corrosion and patriots' prison life with black clothes at those times. It has been called because many patriots who devoted themselves for Korea's independence from the late Chosun dynasty to Japanese colonization period used to walk on this bridge.

Although this bridge was gone due ti the reconstruction of Bosuchun 14 years ago, this monument was built in 1996, an it's named as "Heukkyo Bridge" these days.
