The Hotel Commodore which is located at 743-80, Yeongju-dong, Junggu was open in 1979, and constructed like the only Korean styled building formation into reemerging the Royal Palace of Joseon Dynasty as unique replica.
The Hotel Commodore has three underground floors and 15 floors above ground, with the 7 floors used as parking space. The sectional view of the building shows its front section in swollen contour and its back section in sunken contour. The windows on the front section can have a wide view looking out over the sea. The contour of the building suggests the shape of a sailor's hat. The word commodore was therefore adopted as the hotel's name because it refers to a captain's rank in the navy.
On each floor, the columns, the joint lines along the wall and the ceiling are exquisitely embroidered with uniform figures in traditional Korean primary colors. The ceilings are painted with lotus flowers, and the walls have various relief figures copied from Korean folk art pieces. Staircase rails are engraved into dragon figures so as to give the impression that they are really moving. All these provide an exotic atmosphere to foreign tourists.
It's totally available for tourists and visitors to make a use of computers, internet, printer, secretarial service, interpretation service, vehicle & cellular phone rental service for tourism and business at a business center on the first floor lobby, therefore it's also conveniently efficient working place.
