Explanation

Every September to October, the entire Busan is filled with festivities due to the Busan International Film Festival. It is a non-competing cinema festival that was launched in 1996 for the first time. The festival survived a chaotic early period marked with trials and failures. Notwithstanding its short history, it is now considered one of the most influential film festivals in Asia. The event has grown into a full-fledged cinema festival with authority and prestige in various genres, which offer a fresh perspective on the trends of world cinema.

The Busan Festival also revolves around dialogues that deal with the cultural future of Asia, the ways to find and support talented new writers and cinema directors, and the task of elevating the status of Korean cinema to the global arena.
The “Busan Promotion Plan” (PPP) has been launched with the sole purpose of improving the infrastructure of film production. Being fully aware of the importance of the film industry to the public, the Busan Promotion Plan was established for the following reasons:

to form a joint investment market for film in Asia,
to assist in film production not only for Korea but also for Asian countries in general,
to provide for cultural exchange between the Korean film industry and the international film industry, and
to provide a meeting venue for the audience and film entrepreneurs.
